ANNOUNCMENT: May 7, 2011

LAS VEGAS (AP)  Red Square Coatings Division has chosen SEMCO as it’s premier vendor for coating projects both for interior and exterior applications.  To learn more about the advantages of SEMCO please read on….

#1 REASON:  The SEMCO X-Bond Surfacing System provides significant savings in eliminating the need to demolish an existing substrate. Eliminating the need for demolition can save up to 30% of the total project cost.

Convenient – Remodel Without Removal

Costly and time consuming remodeling and resurfacing is unacceptable. By eliminating the need for removal, the time investment to achieve a new surface can be reduced by 50%. The X-Bond System is designed to chemically adhere to any solid surface, therefore enabling a surface remodel and removal.

Flexible

The SEMCO materials are designed to work in several resurfacing applications, notably on floors, walls, and countertops. In addition the products natural waterproofing abilities enable use in showers, fountains, and any below grade substrate.

Green

SEMCO Finishes are truly Green. While other companies are becoming green we have an established system that is proven Green for over 20 years. Using the most advanced water-based technologies SEMCO has made a system that enables easy handling and meets the requirements of the EPA and USGBC requirements for indoor air quality.

Performance Value

SEMCO only provides products and systems that are proven to meet or exceed the requirements of the area where it is installed.

1. Waterproof (The SEMCO X-Bond System is a 100% waterproof system, ideal for heavy moisture and below grade areas such as showers, tubs, pools, and restrooms.)

2. Proven Durability (i.e. Bellagio, MGM Grand, Venetian, Microsoft School of the Future, U.S. Pentagon, Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, USDOT etc.)

Decorative overlay is a polymer modified cementious mix designed to give excellent protective durability, while decorating new or existing concrete to simulate brick, tile, stone, slate, and other configurations.

How Does the X-Bond System Work?

The X-Bond system uses a specialty chemical bonding material, the X-Bond Liquid, that enables the X-Bond to chemically adhere to any solid surface.

What are some uses for X-Bond?

Decorative concrete overlays can be used in all places where you have plain concrete, but want a more decorative look, both residential and commercial (i.e. interior living spaces, bathrooms, showers, pool decks, driveways, sidewalks, patios, etc.).

How thin or thick can X-Bond be applied?

The typical application is applied at 1/8 inch, although it can be applied as thin or as thick as necessary depending on the application.

Will the decorative overlay colors fade?

No, all pigments used are UV stable.

How long is the lifespan of a decorative overlay?

The decorative overlay is as good as the concrete or surface it is bonded to, and should last for many years if maintained as recommended (rule of thumb is that it will last as long as you want it to last).

How is the surface cleaned?

The use of typical household cleaners that are ammonia based can be used. Another way is to pressure wash the overlay.

Will existing cracks or new cracks in the concrete come through the overlay?

Even though we have a crack bridging process, there is always a chance of fissures appearing when the crack or the control joint was present. (The chance of this occurring decreases with concrete slabs that are 5 years and older.)

Is the X-Bond overlay cooler to walk on than concrete?

Yes, because of how the material is produced, the material can dissipate the heat a lot quicker, and does not absorb the heat therefore making the surface cooler.

Is decorative concrete a fad?

No, decorative concrete has become the most cost-effective way to add value to your property.

Is it necessary to recolor the surface?

Re-coloring is an option when it is time to reseal the surface concrete.

Is it necessary to reseal the surface?

Yes. The time frame before resealing depends on use, UV rays and chemical exposure to the surface. With normal use the seal will last up to 5 years.

How long can I expect the color to last?

The color will always be there. It is the seal that enhances the color.

What is an overlay?

An overlay is a stainable masonry polymer overlayment that can cure to 5000 psi with a thickness from 1/8″ to a maximum of 1/2″.

When should the X-Bond Overlay be used?

Use the X-Bond system to create a new cementious surface or any solid surface. This can be done on vertical or horizontal surfaces, and/or to change or improve the look of an existing good structure without additional demolition costs.

How long will it take to install an overlay?

Installation of the overlay is faster that than ground-up construction because no grading or city inspections are required.

How deep is the decorative surface?

The depth of the decorative surface is approximately 1/2″.

How does decorative concrete compare to natural stone?

While being more cost-effective, concrete is in our opinion more durable as well, as water cannot penetrate grout joints, freeze and pop loose. Almost all stone will flake with UV rays. Sealing maintenance will last up to three times longer with our acrylic sealer which cannot be used on natural stone. Our product is also easier to clean because we close the pores of the concrete with our seal.
