Product Review:  Hayward Heat Pump

We all know that pools and spas need to be heated at times.  Lets face it, if you want to extend the season heating your pool is a necessity.

In the Summer here in Las Vegas, there are times when the water is simply TOO HOT and the idea of “cooling off”  in the pool is simply not an option.  So lets consider an old technology called the Heat Pump.

This technology was first discussed as far back as 1852 by Lord Kelvin.  In 1855 the first heat pump was invented by Peter Ritter von Rittinger who is recognized as the developer of the first heat pump.  A heat pump is a machine or device that diverts heat from one location (the ‘source’) at a lower temperature to another location (the ‘sink’ or ‘heat sink’) at a higher temperature using mechanical work or a high-temperature heat source.

Hayward has developed a heat pump that can cool “warmer” water thereby dropping the temperature of the water.  And yes, it can heat water as well!
