I came across a company today called Lorentz based out of Germany that manufactures Solar Pumps. Solar Tracking Systems and PV Modules (Solar Panels). What intrigued me is they’ve designed a Pool Pump that operates on DC current instead of the typical AC current of major manufactures like Pentair, Hayward, Speck, Jandy, etc.
The twist that intrigued me was there is no need to convert electrical current from DC to AC because the Solar Panels already create DC current. DC current runs directly from solar panels to the DC powered pool pump eliminating expensive Inverter Equipment.
PS600 CS-15-1: is designed for filtration of pools and spas.
PS1800 CS-36-1: is designed for filtration of pools and spas, BUT given its design, can be used for water features that require greater GPM (gallons per minute) utilizing 3″ plumbing both ingress and egress.
LA100-12S: are solar panels or PV (Photo Voltaic) cells manufactured by Lorentz to power their DC Pumps. They come in different configurations depending on your power requirements.
In areas like Southern Nevada where we get sunlight 340 days/year this pump may be a consideration. Your pool pump is considered one of the LARGEST energy hogs in a residential home second only to the #1 piggy…. your Air Conditioner.
As I learn more about this company and the technical specs on the pumps, solar PV panels and misc. soft costs I will add to the blog post. Stay Tuned for more INFO!Vaughn Berger Red Square Pools Las Vegas, Nevada (702) 530-7331
BERNT LORENTZ GmbH & Co. KG is specialised in solar-operated pump systems and considered one of the leading manufacturers in the
field. Founded in 1993 in Hamburg, Germany, LORENTZ today has more than 150 employees and is represented in more than 100 countries.
Our local service partners maintain a close link to the customer and guarantee professional support, installation and maintenance.
LORENTZ provides solar water pump systems, solar tracking systems and photovoltaic modules as well as all related hydraulic and
electronic components. The pump portfolio spans a nominal power range from 0.15 kW to 21 kW, covering lifts of up to 350 m and
flow rates of up to 130 m3/h. Steady research ensures continuous development of the products. Our submersible pump systems are
deployed e.g. in drinking water provision and treatment and in agriculture. LORENTZ surface pump systems are predominantly used
as circulating pump in swimming pools and ponds and in filter systems.
Solar tracking systems form the second pillar of our product range. While increasing the efficiency of photovoltaic modules
considerably, their sturdy design and reliable control electronics ensure an optimum energy yield for solar parks of all sizes
and in grid-independent installations.
Together with our photovoltaic module series, LORENTZ can provide integrated systems with all its components harmonised with
regard to performance and technical characteristic, simple installation and maintenance. This guarantees smooth operation, best
cost effectiveness and high life expectancy.
Our competence as system provider allows us to respond flexibly to individual customer requests and suggest comprehensive
solutions – all over the globe.
